CITY VIEW SF CA

A comfortable home of quiet luxury celebrates the art of making

This expansive, five-bedroom home with panoramic city views presents an investigation of contemporary artistry and craftsmanship. Searching for an interior designer in San Francisco, California,  the client found the perfect match in the team of Studio Collins Weir. Fascinated by the art of making, the client desired an understated yet luxurious home that explored and celebrated the work of living and contemporary artists and artisans. Collaborating closely with the client, Studio Collins Weir specified and designed every layer in the home with the concept of craft in mind. This included bespoke plaster wall coverings from Callidus Guild, unique furnishings by Vincenzo de Cotiis and a site-specific steel etched mural by artist Marta Elise Johanson.

Built-in interior design and custom furniture by Studio Collins Weir complemented one-of-a-kind works sourced from some of the world’s finest living makers and galleries including Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Galerie Negropontes, The Future Perfect and Ralph Pucci.

To set a stage for the home’s one-of-a-kind sweeping views, which stretch over the North Bay to the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin headlands, the interiors are visually quiet, nuanced and anchored in modern interior design. Subtle details are distributed and manipulated throughout the residence such as the graphic repeat of the hand-knotted wool-and-silk area rug, which flows from the family and formal living room. The rug is designed by Studio Collins Weir and produced with Tai Ping carpets. Natural materials in textiles and upholstery including mohair, cashmere and spun silk and refined leathers, wools and linens cocoon visitors in comfort.
